Silver weakens in futures trade, down Rs 213

Silver prices fell by Rs 213 to Rs 37,399 per kg in futures trade Tuesday amid profit-booking by speculators at current levels. However, a firming trend overseas restricted the losses.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May traded down Rs 213, or 0.53 per cent, at Rs 37,399 per kg. It clocked a business volume of 22,275 lots.

The white metal to be delivered in far-month July was down by Rs 216, or 0.57 per cent, at Rs 37,947 per kg in 979 lots.

In the international market, silver slipped 0.11 per cent to USD 15.04 an ounce in Singapore.

Marketmen said profit-booking at prevailing levels led to the fall in silver prices at futures trade here.
