Closing Bell: Sensex ends higher, Nifty above 11,850; Yes Bank slips 2%


Market close: Benchmark indices ended higher but off day's high in the volatile session on May 7 with Nifty finished above 11,850 level.

At close, the Sensex was up 86.18 points at 39,615.90, while Nifty was up 26.90 points at 11,870.70. About 1058 shares have advanced, 1390 shares declined, and 146 shares are unchanged

IndusInd Bank, Bharti Infratel, Bajaj Finance, M&M and Tech Mahindra were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Dr Reddys Laboratories, Yes Bank, Power Grid Corporation, Cipla and JSW Steel.

Among the sectors, except bank and IT all other indices ended in the red led by pharma, infra, metal, energy, auto and FMCG.

Rites bags order: Under an ongoing contract, Sri Lanka Railways has given an additional export order aggregating to Rs 200 crore to the company for supply of passenger coaches

Simplex Infrastructure sinks 18%: Shares of Simplex Infrastructure fell 18 percent as ICICI Direct maintained its reduce call on the stock, citing higher debt levels and likely muted execution in FY20.

Closing bell: Indices see biggest one-day fall in 2019, banks drag Sensex 554 pts after a rate cut


Market Closing

Benchmark indices fell sharply and saw biggest one-day fall this year, dragged by banks after the RBI expectedly cut repo rate by 25 bps and changed policy stance to accommodative from neutral.

The BSE Sensex plunged 553.82 points or 1.38 percent to 39,529.72 and the Nifty50 slipped 177.90 points or 1.48 percent to 11,843.80.

GAIL was prominent loser among Nifty50, falling 12 percent followed by Indiabulls Housing, IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank and SBI which lost 4-8 percent.

Coal India, Titan Company, Hero Motocorp, Power Grid Corp and HUL bucked the trend, rising 1-2 percent.

Marksans Pharma said it received Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) from the US FDA in respect of inspection of the company's Goa facility carried out from 25th February to 6th March 2019.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends May series near 11,950, Sensex up 329 points; NTPC gains 3%


Market Close: It is strong close for the May F&O series on Thursday with Nifty finished near 11,950 level.

At close, the Sensex was up 329.92 points at 39,831.97, while Nifty was up 84.80 points at 11,945.90.  About 1236 shares have advanced, 1301 shares declined, and 153 shares are unchanged. 

NTPC, Yes Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance and BPCL were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Sun Pharma, M&M, Zee Entertainment, Eicher Motors and JSW Steel.

Among the sectors, auto, pharma and metal ended lower, while buying seen in the infra, IT, PSU bank and energy.

Berger Paints Q4: Profit up 4.9 percent at Rs 111.4 crore, compared to Rs 106.2 crore in the corresponding quarter of last fiscal. Revenue rises 13.4 percent at Rs 1,472 crore versus Rs 1,298.3 crore in the year-ago period.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Q4:

Net profit rose 28.6% at Rs 76.7 crore against Rs 59.6 crore and revenue up 16.3% at Rs 2,167.1 crore against Rs 1,863.4 crore.

EBITDA was up 24.2% at Rs 266 crore against Rs 214 crore, margin was at 12.3% versus 11.5%.

Godfrey Phillips India Q4: Net profit down 17.9% at Rs 35.4 crore against Rs 43.1 crore, revenue up at Rs 605.7 crore against Rs 541.9 crore, YoY.

Closing Bell: Sensex ends 247 down, Nifty below 11,900; PSU banks close lower


Market close: Indian indices ended lower but off day's low on Wednesday ahead of F&O expiry on May 30.

At close, the Sensex was down 247.68 points at 39,502.05, while Nifty was down 67.70 points at 11,861.10. About 1051 shares have advanced, 1493 shares declined, and 156 shares are unchanged. 

JSW Steel, SBI, Tata Steel, Cipla and Zee Entertainment were major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Sun Pharma, Bharti Infratel, TCS, GAIL and HCL Tech.

Among the sectors, except IT all other indices are trading in the red led by PSU Bank, infra, auto, metal, energy, FMCG and pharma.

TCS and Scandinavian Airlines sign new partnership: Tata Consultancy Services has signed a new strategic partnership with Scandinavia's leading airline, SAS, the flag-carrier of Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

TTK Prestige Q4:

Net profit up 18.4% at Rs 43.8 crore versus Rs 37 crore and revenue up 6.8% at Rs 444.9 crore versus Rs 416.4 crore.

Operating profit or EBITDA up 10.9% at Rs 64.1 crore against Rs 57.8 crore and tax expense was at Rs 21.3 crore versus Rs 18.5 crore, YoY.

The Indian rupee has recovered a bit from its day's low as its trading lower by 18 paise at 69.87 per dollar versus previous close 69.69.

Adani Enterprises Q4 result: Consolidated net profit rose 50.5% at Rs 283.4 crore against Rs 188.3 crore, revenue up 35.5% at Rs 13,236 crore against Rs 9,767 crore, YoY.

One-time loss at Rs 160.5 crore, EBITDA up at Rs 707 crore and margin at 5.3%

Closing Bell: Nifty ends above 11,900, Sensex up 248 points; Tata Steel surges 5%


Market Close: It was a strong close for the benchmark indices on May 27 with Nifty finished above 11,900 level.

At close, the Sensex was up 248.57 points at 39683.29, while the Nifty was up 80.70 points at 11924.80. About 1782 shares have advanced, 797 shares declined, and 160 shares are unchanged. 

Tata Steel, Yes Bank, NTPC, IOC and L&T were the top gainers on the Nifty, while Zee Entertainment, IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra and Bharti Airtel were the major losers.

Among the sectors, except IT and pharma all other indices ended higher led by infra, metal, PSU bank, FMCG and energy.

Colgate Palmolive Q4 result:
Net profit up 4.7% at Rs 197.6 crore versus Rs 188.8 crore, revenue up 5.7% at Rs 1,154 crore versus Rs 1,092 crore, YoY

EBITDA at Rs 310.7 crore and margin down at 26.9%.

Closing Bell: Nifty holds 11,700, Sensex falls 382 points; Tata Motors loses 7%


Market Close: Indian indices fell 1 percent as they failed to maintain the strong up move which was recorded on May 20, on the back on exit polls for Lok Sabha Election 2019.

At close, the Sensex was down 382.87 points at 38969.80, while Nifty was down 119.20 points at 11709.10. About 970 shares have advanced, 1560 shares declined, and 160 shares are unchanged. 

Tata Motors, BPCL, Zee Entertainment, IndusInd Bank and Adani Ports were the top losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Dr Reddy’s Labs, Bharti Infratel, Britannia Industries, Titan Company and Reliance Industries.

All the sectoral indices ended in red led by auto, bank, pharma, energy, infra, metal, energy and IT.

UFO Moviez Q4: Net profit down 10.2% at Rs 14.4 crore against Rs 16.1 crore, revenue up 18.6% at Rs 191 crore versus Rs 161 crore, YoY

Vedanta declared as the preferred bidder for two Copper blocks in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends above 11,400, Sensex jumps 537 points; auto stocks rally


Market close: Sensex and Nifty rallied over 1 percent each, closing near their day's high level on May 17 ahead of exit poll of Lok Sabha election 2019.

At close, the Sensex was up 537.29 points at 37930.77, while Nifty was up 150.10 points at 11407.20. About 1381 shares have advanced, 1112 shares declined, and 140 shares are unchanged. 

Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Hero Motocorp and Maruti Suzuki were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers include Yes Bank, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Vedanta, Hindalco and Infosys.

Among sectors, auto and FMCG index gained 2.5 percent followed by bank and Infra, while selling witnessed in IT, metal and pharma sectors.

Bajaj Auto Q4 result: Two-wheelers major Bajaj Auto has reported 20 percent jump in its fourth quarter standalone net profit (Q4FY19) at Rs 1,305.6 crore. Revenue of the company jumped 9 percent at Rs 7,395 crore.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Q4: Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has reported 44 percent jump in its Q4FY19 net profit at Rs 434.4 crore against Rs 302.2 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

Spencer Retail approved a proposal for acquisition of entire 100% stake held by Godrej Industries in its wholly owned subsidiary Natures Basket, subject to requisite approval of the shareholders of the company and execution of a share purchase agreement for undertaking the transaction contemplated above.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends above 11,250, Sensex gains 278 pts; IT, metal stocks in focus


Market close: Last hour surge help the benchmark indices to close near day's high level with Nifty finished above 11,250 level.

At close, the Sensex was 278.60 points at 37,393.48, while Nifty was up 100.10 points at 11,257.10. About 1155 shares have advanced, 1296 shares declined, and 149 shares are unchanged. 

Zee Entertainment, BPCL, UltraTech Cement, IOC and Bajaj Finance were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Yes Bank, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank, Coal India and Cipla.

Except pharma, all other sectoral indices ended higher led by IT, metal, energy, bank, auto, FMCG and infra.

JSW Energy Q4: Consolidated net profit at Rs 3.9 crore versus Rs loss of Rs 483.1 crore, revenue up 8.4% at Rs 1,924 crore versus Rs 1,775 crore, YoY.


Rupee at day's high: The Indian rupee is trading at day's high at 70.03 per dollar on Thursday. It gained 31 paise versus previous close 70.34 per dollar.

Minda Industries Q4: Consolidated net profit down 45.8% at Rs 73.5 crore, revenue up 8.4% at Rs 1,486.5 crore, YoY.

Shilpa Medicare gets USFDA nod: The company has received USFood and Drug Administration final approval for its ANDA, Zoledronic Acid Injection, 4 mg/5 mL on 15.05.2019.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 11,200, Sensex falls 203 points; Yes Bank, Tata Motors tank 8%0


Market Close: The benchmark indices ended lower in the volatile trading on May 15 with Nifty closed below 11,200 mark.

At close, the Sensex was down 203.65 points at 37,114.88, while Nifty was down 65 points at 11,157. About 982 shares have advanced, 1544 shares declined, and 176 shares are unchanged.

Closing Bell: Sharp fall drags Nifty below 11,150, Sensex falls 372 pts; Sun Pharma down 9%


Market Close: Late selling in the market drags Nifty below 11,150 level and Sensex by 372 points in today's trading session.

The Sensex was down 372.17 points at 37090.82, while Nifty was down 130.70 points at 11148.20. About 639 shares have advanced, 1826 shares declined, and 157 shares are unchanged. 

Eicher Motors, Zee Entertainment, Sun Pharma, Indiabulls Housing and Yes Bank were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Titan Company, Bharti Infratel, Tech Mahindra, HDFC and HUL.

On the sectoral front, major selling was seen in the PSU Bank and Pharma as both the indices closed with 4 percent cut, followed by metal, auto, energy and infra.

ITC Q4 results: FMCG major ITC has reported 18.7 percent jump in its Q4FY19 net profit to Rs 3,482 crore on the back of strong sales from the FMCG and cigarette units.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends at 11,300, Sensex falls 230 pts; RIL down 3% on MS downgrade


Market close: It is another weak closing for the Indian stock market as benchmark indices finished lower for seventh straight day. Nifty broke the 11,300 level during intraday and touched a low of 11,255.05.

At close, the Sensex was down 230.22 points at 37558.91, while Nifty was down 57.70 points at 11301.80. About 1074 shares have advanced, 1370 shares declined, and 150 shares are unchanged. 

Top losers on the Nifty were Reliance Industries, BPCL, Coal India, Asian Paints and NTPC, while gainers include Zee Entertainment, Yes Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance and Hero Motocorp.

Among sectoral indices metal, infra, energy, pharma and bank ended in red, while some buying seen in the IT and FMCG.

JSW Steel April production: April crude steel production up 2% at 13.93 lakh tonnes against 13.61 lakh tonnes. Rolled products (Flat) production down 1 percent at 9.53 lakh tonnes versus 9.67 lakh tonnes, while Rolled products (Long) production up 4 percent at 3.36 lakh tonnes versus 3.24 lakh tonnes.

Asian Paints Q4: Consolidated net profit at Rs 487 crore versus Rs 496 crore, revenue up 11.7% at Rs 5,018 crore versus Rs 4,492 crore.

Closing Bell: Heavy selling drags Sensex 487 pts, Nifty ends around 11,350; RIL, Zee major losers


Market close: Benchmark indices finished near day's low on Wednesday amid weak global cues.

The Sensex has closed below 38,000, while Nifty also break below 11,350 during intraday.

At close, the Sensex was down 487.50 points at 37789.13, while Nifty was down 138.40 points at 11359.50. About 685 shares have advanced, 1778 shares declined, and 148 shares are unchanged. 

Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors and Bajaj Finserv were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were UPL, JSW Steel, Titan Company, BPCL and Coal India. 

All sectoral indices ended in red led by energy, pharma, auto, bank, infra, FMCG, metal and IT. Midcap and smallcap index shed 1 percent each.

Alembic Pharma Q4: Consolidated net profit up 32.2% at Rs 124 crore against Rs 94 crore, revenue up 8.6% at Rs 927 crore against Rs 853.3 crore, YoY.

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Q4: consolidated net loss at Rs 25 crore versus loss of Rs 363 crore, revenue up at Rs 9,957 crore versus Rs 9,866 crore, QoQ.

Dhanlaxmi Bank reports profit in Q4FY19: ​Dhanlaxmi Bank has reported net profit of Rs 27.6 crore in in the fourth quarter ended March 2019 (Q4FY19). It had reported a loss of Rs 17.2 crore in a year ago period.

MAS Financial Q4: Net profit up 27.7% at Rs 41.6 crore against Rs 32.6 crore, revenue up 30.9% at Rs 165 crore against Rs 126 crore, YoY

Market Check: Benchmark indices are trading lower buy off day's low with Nifty above 11,400 level.

UPL, JSW Steel, Coal India, BPCL and Power Grid Corp ae the top gainers on the Nifty, while Vedanta, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma and Yes Bank are among major losers.

Shares of Reliance Industries touched over 6-week low and shares of Bajaj Finserv also at 4-week low.

Srikalahasthi Pipes Q4: Net profit up 4.4% at Rs 35.8 crore against Rs 34.3 crore, revenue up 12.7% at Rs 408.7 crore versus Rs 362.5 crore, YoY.

Eros International Media's promoter has created pledge on 27.5 lakh shares from May 3-6, reported CNBC-TV18.

India VIX, the measure of volatility, has fallen 0.3 percent intraday to 26.04.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 11,600, Sensex falls 362 pts on weak global cues; metal stocks drag


Market close: Benchmark indices ended lower but off day's low on Monday amid fresh trade worries between US-China.

The Sensex was down 362.92 points at 38600.34, while Nifty was down 114 points at 11598.30. About 887 shares have advanced, 1581 shares declined, and 166 shares are unchanged. 

Zee Entertainment, Titan Company, Yes Bank, Tata Motors and JSW Steel were among major losers on the indices, while gainers were BPCL, TCS, ITC, Bajaj Finserv and Bharti Airtel.

Except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in red led by metal, infra, bank, auto, pharma and FMCG.

Mahindra CIE Automotive Q1: Consolidated net profit was up 16.7% at Rs 153.7 crore against Rs 131.7 crore, revenue up 8.9% at Rs 2,174.4 crore versus Rs 1,996.5 crore, YoY.

Market Update: Benchmark indices are trading at day's low level on Monday afternoon with Nifty below 11,600.

The Sensex is down 400.57 points at 38562.69, while Nifty is down 129.40 points at 11582.90. About 742 shares have advanced, 1585 shares declined, and 151 shares are unchanged.

Closing Bell: Sensex, Nifty end lower after a lacklustre day; IT, pharma stocks drag


Market close: Benchmark indices ended lower on volatile day with Nifty fell to hold 11,750 level.

At close, the Sensex was down 50.12 points at 38981.43, while Nifty was down 23.40 points at 11724.80. About 1053 shares have advanced, 1442 shares declined, and 163 shares are unchanged.

Radico Khaitan Q4 result: Net profit rose 14.2% at Rs 39 crore versus Rs 34.2 crore, revenue up 6.1% at Rs 510 crore versus Rs 481 crore, YoY.

Kansai Nerolac Q4: Net profit down 12.3% at Rs 93 crore versus Rs 106 crore, revenue up 4.5% at Rs 1,153 crore versus Rs 1,103 crore, YoY.

Rupee at day's high: The Indian rupee is trading at day's high level at 69.50 per dollar versus Tuesday's close 69.56.

MRF Q4 results: Net profit down 14.8% at Rs 293 crore versus Rs 345 crore, revenue up 6.2% at Rs 4,073.5 crore against Rs 3,836 crore, YoY.

Buzzing: Shares of Greaves Cotton rose 4 percent after company board approves buyback of its equity shares for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 240 crore

Market Close: Late buying helped benchmark indices to close the first day of May series near day's high level with Nifty finished above 11,750 mark.

At close, the Sensex was up 336.47 points at 39067.33, while Nifty was up 112.90 points at 11754.70. About 1085 shares have advanced, 1410 shares declined, and 153 shares are unchanged. 

Tata Steel, BPCL, GAIL, ICICI Bank and JSW Steel were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers include Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Grasim Industries, Dr Reddy’s Labs and Bharti Airtel.

Closing Bell: Equities begin New Year on a strong note, Nifty reclaims 10,900; financials rally


Market at Close It’s a strong start to the New Year for equities as bulls took complete charge in the last hour of trade. The Nifty reclaimed 10,900-mark setting it on track to move towards 11,000 as well. Meanwhile, the Sensex ended above 36,000-mark. 

Barring auto and consumption sectors, all other sectors ended in the green. HDFC Group twins and ICICI Bank supported the rally.  

At the close of market hours, the Sensex was up 186.24 points or 0.52% at 36,254.57, while the Nifty was higher by 47.60 points or 0.44% at 10910.10. The market breadth was narrow as 1,437 shares advanced, against a decline of 1,091 shares, while 147 shares were unchanged.

Bharti Airtel and HDFC were the top gainers, while M&M, Tata Steel, and Hindalco lost the most.
