RBI may not pay special dividend to govt from cash haul
The disruption caused due to the government’s move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes is a short-term disruption, according to UBS Securities. The disruption will be short lived and UBS Securities expects it to last not more than a month. On speculation that RBI may pay a special dividend from the cash clean-up act, RBI should not be looked at as a company but as a policy-making body. Hence, it should not be presumed that the central bank will pay a special dividend.
