Rupee loses another 9 paise against US Dollar

The Indian rupee weakened further by 9 paise against its US counterpart on Thursday in the wake of higher demand for the dollar from banks and importers amid a bout of global risk aversion.

According to Ripples Advisory ,weakness in Indian equity market also weighed on local currency movement. At the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market, the domestic currency was trading down by 09 paise to 66.83 per dollar from a previous close of 66.74 per dollar.

The greenback strengthened against Asian currencies, including Indian counterpart, following upbeat macroeconomic data and hawkish comments from the US Federal Reserve officials regarding raising interest rates later this year.
