D-Street Buzz: Nifty metal, pharma outperform led by Hindalco, Lupin; NDTV locked at 10% upper circuit


The Indian indices are trading flat on Friday morning amid weak global markets, with Nifty is hovering around 10,950 level.

Bharti Airtel, M&M, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and Adani Ports are the top gainers on the Sensex, while Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, TCS, Asian Paints and Yes Bank are among top losers on the Sensex.

Among the sector, IT index is underperforming with over 0.5 percent cut, led by stocks like TCS, Infosys, KPIT Technologies, HCL Tech, Wipro and Tata Elxsi.

Shares of New Delhi Television (NDTV) locked at 10 percent upper circuit after company signed a 5-year deal with Taboola.

Nifty Energy space also trading lower by 0.3 percent dragged by IOC down 4.5 percent, ONGC, RIL and Tata Power.

Bharat Financial, Voltas, Indiabulls Housing, BEML and CG Power are the most active shares on BSE.

Metal index has outperform the other indices with 1 percent gain, led by Hindalco, Jindal Steel, NALCO, Tata Steel, SAIL India, Vedanta and JSW Steel.

Pharma stocks are also trading higher led by Lupin, Piramal Enterprises, Cadila Healthcare, Glenmark Pharma and Cipla.

The breadth of the market favoured the advances with 872 stocks advancing and 682 declining while 495 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 961 stocks advanced, 706 declined and 85 remained unchanged.
